Introducing a new training program specifically designed for Board Chairs to fully understand their roles and create a legacy of leadership in your organization.
This five-month team learning opportunity brings together the Executive Director, Board Chair, and incoming or Vice Chair of your organization for:
Five half-day training sessions covering the following topics:
• Board Governance
• Board Assessment
• Development & Recruitment
• Increasing Involvement in Fundraising
• Creating a Strategic Board
• Executive Director Performance Review
A board assessment tool to develop a relevant board development plan.
A board project for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of your board.
Sessions will include:
Formal training (with workbook) for the Board Chair, the Executive Director, and other members of the organization to keep as a valuable resource tool. Our training faculty includes experienced trainers and coaches who have served as both executives and board chairs during their careers.
A presentation by current and former Board Chairs which creates a “sounding board” to solve current and unique challenges facing Academy participants.
A guest speaker who will present a recent challenge encountered by a local Board and the processes employed to resolve the challenge.

Fri, May 14, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm: Increasing Board Involvement in Fundraising
Fri, June 18, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm: Evaluating the Executive Director
Fri, July 16, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm: Creating the Strategic Board
Cost: $1500 per organization
This includes tuition for three representatives (Board Chair, Vice Chair & Executive Director) from your organization to participate, and can be paid in full or in five monthly installments of $300 from March through July 2010.
