Advanced Training Description

Executive Director's Institute

Are you ready to become a top-notch Executive Director?

It’s a tall order, we know, but it can be done — and the ED Institute is the first step! This year-long program is truly an opportunity to learn from the best; everything you wish you already knew about your job.
You’ve never had training so focused on the unique role Executive Directors play – and with such a broad scope of content and learning opportunities! Sessions are 6 full days starting in April 2010 and every other month from May 2010 to Jan 2011. Experiential learning is built in, in the form of specific projects to apply what you learn as “homework” between sessions and a “seasoned” Executive Director mentor for each program participant. The program includes sessions on:

• Mission-Based Management
• Working with Your People
• Managing Effective Programs
• ED and Board Success
• Raising Money to Serve Your Cause
• Leading Fiscal Accountability

Training Dates (each session runs from 9am-4pm):

• Session 1: Thursday, April 1
• Session 2: Wednesday May 19
• Session 3: Wednesday July 14
• Session 4:Wednesday September 15
• Session 5: Wednesday November 10
• Session 6: Wednesday January 12, 2011

Two additional late afternoon events are also planned:
• An opening reception for all participants and mentors – April 1, 2010
• A graduation reception for all participants and mentors – January 12, 2011

Tuition for the Academy is $2500 per individual and includes all course materials. We will gladly invoice your organization for the tuition cost as you prefer:

One invoice totaling $2500 in March 2010

Five instalments of $500 due March, May, July, September and November 2010

The ED Institute will be held at our offices at 1183 Melville Street, Downtown Vancouver.
