Increasing the Board's Involvement in Friend-Raising

April 15, 2009
9:00am - 12:00pm
1183 Melville St., Downtown Vancouver
Trainer: Jeffrey Wilcox

The starting place for developing and maintaining a successful fundraising program is to develop the capacity to initiate and nurture quality relationships on behalf of the organization throughout the community.
Outreaching to individuals and institutions to inform each about the mission statement and the important work of the organization is an essential skill for both professionals and volunteers alike if the organization is to grow and prosper.

While relationship-building skills are essential for anyone involved in a community-based organization, the tasks associated with friend-raising aren't natural or easy for many people. Increasing The Board's Involvement In Friend-Raising provides a three-step approach to developing relationships that become part of a sustainable portfolio of needed financial and human resources. The course will provide an overview of the attributes of a successful "community-based" organization, outline ways to initiate and sustain relationships, and suggest methods to mobilize these relationships into a successful fundraising program.
