Leadership Coaching Program

Are your Executive Director and Board Chair seeking new ways to enhance their relationship to move your board closer to achieving the organization's mission?

The Leadership Coaching Program, a collaboration between Volunteer Vancouver and the International Coach Federation (ICF), Vancouver Chapter, provides 10-12 hours of team coaching to your Board Chair and Executive Director to clarify roles and build trust and accountability in this key relationship.

Why Coaching?

Recent studies on not-for-profit leadership indicate coaching can more fully engage not-for-profit leadership teams in achieving their goals. If roles and responsibilities are mission-driven and clear, the ED and Board Chair can better lead their organizations to achieving desired, positive outcomes in the community.

Is our organization a good fit?

The Leadership Coaching Program is designed as an implementation tool for Volunteer Vancouver's other advanced learning and training. Successful applicants to the program have already participated in one of the following : Board Development Training, Peer Learning Circle, Board Chair Academy, Executive Director Institute, Governance as Leadership full-day workshop.

Organizations that participate will also have:

  • a good working relationship between the Board Chair and the Executive Director
  • 1 or 2 specific issues that the Board Chair and Executive Director would like to tackle
  • an ethos of accountability and transparency and a commitment to be mission-driven

Who are the coaches?

All coaches are professionally trained with a minimum of 5 years of experience in volunteering or working within the not-for-profit sector. Meet all of the current coaches here.

Is there a fee to participate?

The fee to participate in the Leadership Coaching Program is $1,000 + GST per organization. Subsidies of up to 50% of this fee are available. Included in the fees, the Executive Director and the Board Chair will jointly participate in 10-12 hours of coaching with an Executive Coach. The coach will also observe one board meeting.
